Sling Levels and skill requirements
Check out the requirements and skills that will be focused on in each level for SLING. Make sure you are familiar with the terminology and skills required to be able to advance to the next level. Check with your instructor if you are ready to level up! MUST pass skills test to move on to next level.
YOUTH CLASSES ARE AGES 10-14
TEEN & ADULT CLASSES ARE AGES 15+
Intro to sling
•Pre-req: No experience required.
•Open and closed fabric straddle back
•Diaper series with gazelle (king pigeon) drop down
•Peterpan/superman exit out of diaper
•Front balance & hip hang (pic seen above)
•Tuck invert with assistance of wrist wraps
•Roll ups including: open fabric roll up, closed fabric and standing roll ups
•Coffin
•Hip key prep
•Thigh hitch prep
Level 1/2 Sling
•Pre-req: Must be consistent with straddle back and diaper series.
•Straddle invert from ground with assistance of wrist wraps
•Secretary sequence aka princess seat sequence
•3 hip key variations
•Standing shapes in thigh hitch (picture seen above)
•Seatbelt wrap & Corset wrap
•Half diaper roll up aka catchers wrap.
•Thigh roll up
•Standing Jacob’s ladder sequence
•Intro to belays in sling
•Back dives drops & saltos
•Rocking horse to rebecca splits series in sling (standing king pigeon series)
•Inverting from ground to prep in air
•Cross straddle (x-back) w/invert
Level 2 SLing
•Pre-req: Must be consistent with beginner and level 1 skills and have consistent inverts.
•Advanced versions of Seatbelt
•Will work towards straight leg free inverts
•Advanced versions of x-back/crossback
•Handstand in sling from crotchet
•Belays
•Crotchet invert to crossback
•Reverse standing crotchet to crossback
•Reverse crotchet to corset wrap
•Slack drops
•Spinning & sequencing
•Flares from backpack
LEVEL 3-5 SLING
•Pre-req: Must be consistent in cross back straddle inverts, free inverts, and all level intro, 1-3 skills.
•Inverts from standing in sling
•Minute long straight arm hangs
•Arabesque & vertical splits w/J-sit exit (pic seen above)
•Will work on more advanced versions to and from cross back straddle
•Clean technique on all level 3 and 4 sequences will be a strong point of focus
•Straight leg inverts from ground and in air required
•Flares from standing free invert
•Straight arm inverts from ground and air
•Meathooks
•Back balance & front balance
•Flag & Iron Cross
•Angel roll ups
